Hear“H.A.M.”, Kanye West And Jay-Z’s First Offering From The‘Throne’| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Kanye West Jay-Z H.A.M. single coverWe knew after catching a first glimpse at Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Riccardo Tisci-designed“H.A.M.” single coverthat the song itself was going to be a balls-to-the-wall over the top affair. We just didn’t know what the heckthe title meant—until now. The first single off‘Ye‘n Jay’s forthcomingWatch The ThroneLP premiered on Facebook in the wee hours of the morn, and now you can listen to the bombastic jam after the jump. (P.S. TotallyNSFW.)

Lex Luger, who previously swizzed the decks for Rick Ross’“B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” and Kanye’s“See Me Now”, handled production duties on“H.A.M.”. And we’re giving him props for incorporating that hypnotic, squiggly synth intro—which sounds like it was lifted form the score to some’80s Dario Argento slice-and-dice flick—alone.

What follows after that is a“N”-word-riddled tirade from Kanye first, then Jay, that finds the two hip hop legends spitting down the haters and bragging about their cash.

A few choice lines:

Kanye:“N****s telling me,‘You back’ like a n**** ever left up out this bitch, huh?/ And if life’s a bitch, then suck my dick.”

Jay-Z:“Fuck y’all mad at me for? Y’all don’t even know what I’ve been through/ I play chicken with a Mack Truck, Y’all muthafuckas would’ve been moved.”

Kanye West& Jay-Z - H.A.M.

We’re still scratching our noggins over“H.A.M.” standing for“hard as a mutherfucka” (guess“H.A.A.M” just doesn’t have the same ring).

And no disrespect to these two geniuses, but the raddest part of this jam is that rap-less breakdown about three minutes in that segues from creepyThe Omen-type chanting to moving piano chords to an opera diva belting like Mariah Carey’s mom on“The Hallelujah Chorus”. Not sure if that was a touch Lex Luger added or if it came from the two rappers behind the song, but it’s just the type of gaudy flare you want packed into a lead single from an album by these guys.

At any rate, we now have the“H.A.M.” that West and Hova served up. How do you rate this single compared to other tracks from these two MCs?

Pitbull And Chris Brown Look For“International Love”On New Track | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Pitbull Chris Brown International LoveLast year Pitbull was featured as a guest on two of thesummer’s biggest songs—Usher’s“DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love”and Enrique Iglesias’“I Like It.”But with his albumPlanet Piton the way in March, the Miami rapper takes the front seat on newly surfaced track“International Love”, while Chris Brown is on chorus duties. Listen below.

“There’s not a place that your love don’t affect me, baby / So don’t ever change, across the globe when I’m with you, baby,” Brown croons during the middle eight breakdown.

Previously we heard Pitbull and Brown team up on“Where Do We Go From Here.”However, like that one, there’s no word yet on whether or not“International Love” will appear onPlanet Pit.

Pitbull feat. Chris Brown - International Love

What we do know is this:“International Love” is an energetic floorfiller not unlike Breezy’s current hit“Yeah 3X”, and it finds the two praising the women of Brazil, Romania, Lebanon, New York City and Los Angeles. Of course, there are no women like the ones in Miami for Pitbull.

We can totally hear this finding a home on the radio. Do you think“International Love” is a global smash ready to be had?

Snoop Dogg Drops Sunny New Jam“El Lay”On Twitter | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Snoop Dogg Marty James El LayFollowing his appearance on Katy Perry’sGrammy-nominatedhit“California Gurls,”Snoop Dogg continues his lyrical love affair with the Golden State—or, more specifically, Los Angeles—on new jam“El Lay.” Take a ride with the Doggfather through the City of Angels below.

Snoop released the track as a free download via his Twitter account yesterday, stating“bout 2 drop new song‘El Lay’ to celebrate the NBA all stars coming to tha Dogg’s town…” One would assume the smooth tune will appear on upcoming albumDoggumentary Music, alongside the royally raunchy“Wet”and the more romantic cut“New Year’s Eve.”

Marty James pays tribute to L.A. while crooning the anthem-like chorus (guess we’ve only hit the tip of the iceberg with the region-themed jams following the success of“Empire State Of Mind”), while Snoop tosses out verses this:“Purple and gold, homey, let the story be told / This the city where they shoot your favorite television episode.”

Snoop Dogg feat. Marty James - El Lay

Yeah,“El Lay” is pretty rad. And truth be told, we’re finding it to be a far more enjoyable listen than Kanye West and Jay-Z’s angry, expletive-riddled“H.A.M.”

Doggumentary Musicis due out March 8.

Alexis Jordan Is A“Good Girl”On New Dance Track | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

168292_10150093550738329_104332608328_5661993_2349540_nAlexis Jordan claims she can be good after being oh-so bad on“Good Girl”, the second single from her self-titled debut album. The 18-year old has had some massive success across the pond with her lead single“Happiness”peaking at #3 on the UK singles charts. Will“Good Girl” get Americans finally paying attention to this plucky pop gal? Jump below to listen.

Alexis Jordan - Good Girl

“You might mistake me for a heartbreaker, cause there’s blood on the floor / I’m hoping that you see something good in me you’ve never seen before,” sings Alexis on the catchy dance tune.

This feel good, head-boppin’ number is bubbly and just pure fun. Too bad Selena Gomez didn’t get her hands on this one— sounds like it could fit right next to“A Year Without Rain” in her new dance-pop repertoire. If Jordan releases a killer video and gets a bit more exposure performing“Good Girl” on late night TV, we can see 2011 being very good to her.

Here’s the official track listing from Alexis’ debut LP:

aj

Alexis Jordan—Alexis Jordan

1. Happiness
2. Good Girl
3. How You Like Me Now?
4. Say That
5. Love Mist
6. Habit
7. Hush Hush
8. High Road
9. Shout Shout
10. Laying Around
11. The Air That I Breathe

Adele Covers The SteelDrivers’“If It Hadn’t Been For Love”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Adele Rolling In The DeepWhile Adele’s“Rolling In The Deep”has been available for the past month on iTunes, the physical CD single doesn’t come out in the UK until this coming Monday (January 17). And on it sits the bluesy, acoustic B-side“If It Hadn’t Been For Love,” which you can hear below.

“If It Hadn’t Been For Love” is a cover of a song by Nashville bluegrass act The SteelDrivers, from their 2008 self-titled LP. And given the new material we’ve heard so far from Adele, this is quite a different number than the stomping“Rolling In The Deep” and mournful piano ballad“Someone Like You.”

Of course, as the 22-year-old Brit demonstrated on her debut LP19, she’s quite adept at wrapping that big voice around a slew of genres.

Adele - If It Hadn't Been For Love

At the end of the day,“If It Hadn’t Been For Love” is a curious little number that has probably rightly been relegated to B-side status. But if anything, it’s whet our appetite further for Adele’s upcoming21.

Timbaland Thursdays Brings Out Missy Elliott For“Take Ur Clothes Off”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

timmissycdart21A few months back, Timbaland took a previously unreleased Missy Elliott track out of the vault, the wobbly“Swat Dat Fly.”While that was an old one, Timbo’s Missy collaboration, the selection for this week’s Timbaland Thursdays series,  feels much more fresh– and bangin’! Jump below to allow Missy to reintroduce herself on“Take Ur Clothes Off.”

Timbaland feat. Missy Elliott - Take Ur Clothes Off

“Allow me to reintroduce myself / My name’s Missy, rockin’ like no one else / I don’t need no one cause I’m feelin’ myself,” spits out the 39-year old rap star.

“I get crazy for you baby / Been rapping since ya’ll were little babies.” Hey, Elliott’s kind of right– when she began her rap career in the early 90s, Nicki Minaj was still in elementary school. And Willow Smith wasn’t even born!

But back to the song. Oh, how we’ve missed Missy! HerBlock Partycomeback CD has been pushed back more than we can count, though both she and Timbo swear 2011 is the year new music will drop. And this tune– a work in progress, for sure, but very promising– is a good indication that we can believe them this time.

What do you think of“Take Ur Clothes Off”? Worth the wait?

Andre 3000 Gives Ke$ha’s“Sleazy”A Touch Of Class | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

andre-3000When we think of which artists are more than likely to churn out remixes of Ke$ha songs, Andre 3000 isn’t the first name that comes to mind. But don’t mind if we do! Listen to Andre spit some rhymes over the“Slutwave” queen’sCannibaltrack“Sleazy” by jumping below.

Ke$ha feat. Andre 3000 - Sleazy (Remix)

“She call me Andre 6000 because I’m good to her,” says the OutKast rapper.

Why does this exist? Why is there only one Andre verse? Where will it wind up, if anywhere? And is this a sign that Andre is ready to drop a new release? We do not know. All we know is why like this more than we expected to. More please!

Lil Wayne Takes A Swing On Nicki Minaj’s“Roman’s Revenge”Remix | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

nicki minaj lil wayneNicki MinajtoldBillboardlast year that

“Roman’s Revenge”is a song in which she comes“a different human being”, a wholly original persona (Roman Zolanski) who can do and say what Nicki can’t or won’t,timid wallflowerthat she is. So it’s only fitting that we finally have a remix of song with a rapper who claims he’snot a human beingat all— her Young Money patron Lil Wayne. Weezy jumps on the Swizz Beatz-produced track in place of Eminem, offering a wild-eyed verse that argues (what else?) that he’s still on top. Grab the Roman’s Revenge remix below and decide for yourself.

Nicki Minaj f/ Lil Wayne - Roman's Revenge (Remix)

We don’t mind hearing Wayne riff on his large, um, appetite, but for our money (young or otherwise), we prefer the Eminem version. (In fact, we might even prefer that much-maligned Weezy/Nicki collaboration“Knockout”to this remix). And would it have killed Nicki— er, Roman — to add a new verse or two?

Adele Moves On From Her Ex In‘21′Bonus Track“I Found A Boy”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

AdeleAdele’s sophomore LP21will see a UK release on Monday, a full month before it hits shelves here in the States (February 22). So for now why not tide yourself over with the iTunes bonus track“I Found A Boy,” which finds the 22-year-old“Rolling In The Deep”songstress immersing herself in a new love and chastising her former partner while somber guitar chords play beneath her vocals.

“I found a boy who I love more than I ever did you before / So stand beside the river I cried and let yourself down,” Adele sings, before adding,“Look how you want me now that I don’t need you.”

As the Grammy-winning singer mentioned in her recentAlan Carr: Chatty Maninterview, much of21was inspired by a breakup.“I tried to bite my tongue a bit on this record, but I ended up being more honest than on the first one,” Adele explained to the UK talk show host.“And I think it might come back and bite me on the bum.”

Adele - I Found A Boy

No one does the post-relationship blues quite like Adele, and if the poetic“I Found A Boy” has been relegated to being an iTunes bonus track overseas, consider us even more excited for the tracks that made it onto the album proper.

Adele is set to perform at theupcoming BRIT Awardson February 15.

Diddy-Dirty Money Cover Far East Movement’s“Like A G6″| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Diddy-Dirty-MoneyWhat’s more intriguing thanBruno Mars covering Katy Perry’s“California Gurls”for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge? How about Diddy-Dirty Money trying their hand at Far East Movement’s“Like A G6″, also for the BBC Radio show. After dishing out someLast Train To Paristracks, the trio performed their version of the party-lovin’ group’s hit tune, and it’s just as fly as the original. In fact, it’s pretty much just like the original in every way. Jump below to compare and contrast D-DM and FM’s“slizzards”.

“That Dirty Money crew fly like a G7,” says Diddy on the live recording.“You’ve just been upgraded. Thank you.”

What you’re listening to is basically Diddy and his gals doing some karaoke. Butgoodkaraoke, like attending a swanky karaoke joint in Manhattan full of Broadway performers, as opposed to the dive bar in a strip mall that rents a karaoke machine for the townies to (ab)use while drunk. What we’re saying is— it’s pretty good.

Hear The Final Version Of Jennifer Lopez And Pitbull’s“On The Floor”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Jennifer Lopez On The Floor PitbullRyan Seacrest’s websitepremiered the final version of Jennifer Lopez’s new RedOne-produced track“On The Floor”this morning. Over the weekend we mentioned that the mixture of Latin flavor and beats in the new club jam, which samples Kaoma’s 1989 international hit“Lambada,” felt appropriate given that J.Lo was one of the pioneers bringing Latina flavor to the clubs. Give the radio-ready version of“On The Floor” a spin below.

This clip of“On The Floor” appears to have been edited down by a full minute from the version that did the rounds over the weekend. Do you think it sounds tighter now?

Of course,“On The Floor” isn’t the only Pitbull tune to pop up recently with a global feel to the lyrics.“International Love,”his pairing with Chris Brown, is another floorfiller that aims to take the listener dance-filled journey around the world.

Snoop Dogg And Game Alter Wiz Khalifa’s Hit To“Purp And Yellow”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Snoop Dogg Game Purp And Yellow video setWe won’t go so far as to call Pittsburgh MC Wiz Khalifa (hometown represent!) a genius just yet. But he does appear to be having quite a moment with his Top 10 smash“Black And Yellow.” Case in point: YouTube 9-year-old sensation Lyrikkal and her sassy homage video“Pink And Purple.”Oh, you want more? How about Snoop Dogg and Game’s Los Angeles Lakers-leaning“Purp And Yellow”? Hear it below.

“We don’t give a damn about the big three, L.A. let’s show‘em we about to threepeat,” the Doggfather raps on“Purp And Yellow”, just another ina long line of jamsabout one of his favorite West Coast cities.

Rap-Up.composted the above photo of Snoop and Game on the set of the video, along with a snap of the latter MC’s cut finger.“Game bled red after he split his finger while smashing a guitar. Ouch!” the site noted.

Who do you think did a better send-up of“Black And Yellow”: Snoop and Game orLyrikkal?

Listen To A Short Clip Of Supposed Lady Gaga Song“Animal”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Lady GagaA short clip of a song supposedly by upcomingGrammy Awards performerLady Gaga, apparently called“Animal,” has surfaced online via theFacebook page of iLeaks.com, and it’s got little monsters around the world in a frenzy. Commentshereseem to indicate that it’s an old demo, whileothers suggestthat it’s a new song set to appear on Gaga’s upcoming albumBorn This Way. Either way, you can listen below.

“I can see the way that you’re looking at me, like you’re hungry and I am the only thing that you see,” go the vocals, which lay atop the drum-dominated pop song.

To us, the beat sounds slightly“Promiscuous” (in the 2006 Nelly Furtado song way, not in the“let’s have it off under the school bleachers” way). Plus, with the recent success of Neon Trees’ single“Animal” and, more importantly, fellow pop songstress Ke$ha’s#1 album of the same name, we’re wondering whether or not Lady Gaga would even go there for a title in 2011.

Give the snippet a spin and see if you think this is new or old Gaga material—or as MTV has now been told, not even Gaga at all.

Jennifer Lopez Steps Back“On The Floor”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

jennifer-lopez-001
Just because J-Lo’sin the judge’s seaton the current season ofAmerican Idoldoesn’t mean she’s above putting out new material for us to critique, as evidenced by her new single “On the Floor,” a RedOne-produced number most reminiscent of her turn-of-the-millennium smash “Waiting for Tonight.” The song, which features a lengthy rap intro from Pitbull, is set to premiere onfellowIdoldivaRyan Seacrest’s radio show next week. Jenny’s last few singles left clubbers standing around, waiting for a better song to come on. Will her latest get us back “On the Floor”? Listen here.

“It’s getting ill, it’s getting sick on the floor,” Lopez sings on the track — and yes, the lyrics about drinking, globe-trotting, and putting hands in the air are about as standard as they come for a dance tune (there’s even a “la la la” hook). The mixture of Latin sounds with a heavy club beat is also nothing new (in fact, the track samples Kaoma’s two-decade-old“Lambada”), but given that Lopez was one of the pioneers bringing Latina flavor to the clubs, this feels appropriate. It’s nice to see J-Lo return to form.

Jennifer Lopez– On The Floor ft. PitbullbyGuzzo

Apart from Pitbull’s introduction, there may not be enough hip hop flavor here to make a splash at the clubs — the track may be too much of a throwback to older dance hits, without bringing anything new or innovative to the party. Then again, clubbers need something to gracelessly bob their heads and raise theirglasses to after last call, amidst multicolored lights. And in that moment, a generic dance beat and “la la la” chorus will do just fine.

Our verdict: we’re pretty happy with the latest from Lopez. But what we really want to know is, what do Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson think?

Listen To Some Version Or Other Of Nicole Scherzinger’s“Don’t Hold Your Breath”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Nicole ScherzingerPopJusticehas attempted to sift through the various versions ofFHMfoxNicole Scherzinger’s next (UK) single“Don’t Hold Your Breath.”The main ones been floating around: the original Timbaland/Keri Hilson demo; the other demo, sans Nicole’s vocals; the one that popped up today that PJ says still isn’t the final version. At any rate, below we posted a form of the song slightly longer that last one mentioned, because, to quote PopJustice,“Don’t Hold Your Breath” is“basically amazing.”

This history of“Don’t Hold Your Breath” (or at least Nicole’s version of it) does indeed appear to be a tricky minefield, so we’ll just pause on our thoughts until the official single version is confirmed.

Well, okay—we will allow that this song already sounds better than every Pussycat Dolls single combined.

Trey Songz Releases His“Spray”, Plans His Love Faces Tour | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Love FacesTrey Songz, the R&B crooner who’s got his mind in the gutter and his clothes usually somewhere on the floor, is preparing to embark on his Love Faces 2011 tour, named aftera songon his albumPassion, Pain& Pleasure(as well as hisown personal“love” faces). Is the notion of experiencing Songz live in the flesh already too hot and heavy for you? Better not listen to“Spray”, a previously unreleased tune of the singer’s that found its way online today. Sings Songz:“Girl I’m hearing what you say/ I can tell you really want to play/ If you want it your way, you gon’ have to spray.” We don’t think he’s talking about perfume. Listen to the Salaam Remi-produced track below.

Trey Songz–“Spray”

Though pure R&B, it’s got a nice little doo-wop vibe to it, though it sounds unfinished. Plus, the image we’re getting of either party“spraying” one another withanything, from a bottle of seltzer to their own love juices, doesn’t necessarilyscreamsexy to us. It’s more jolting, than anything. But we guess“Release Gently And With Due Warning” isn’t as catchy a title as“Spray”.

Here are the first (only?) four dates on Songz’s Valentine’s Day weekend mini-tour:

Love Faces 2011 Tour

2/11: New York City– Venue TBD

2/12: Washington, D.C.– Dar Constitution Hall

2:13: Detroit, Mich.– Detroit Opera House

Corinne Bailey Rae Covers Prince On Her‘The Love’EP | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

corinne-bailey-rae-the-love-epCorinne Bailey Rae’sThe LoveEP, a digital-only album of love song covers, drops this Valentine’s Day (aww). And though it’s mostly about love, there’s room for some straight-up funky lust, too.“It’s just really fun!” Corinne told us about her version of Prince’s“I Wanna Be Your Lover” during ourinterviewlast Fall.“I thought, I never get to do really fun, synthy, aggressive bright things.” And now she has! Listen to the British chanteuse’s version of The Purple One’s classic song by jumping below.

Corinne Bailey Rae–“I Wanna Be Your Lover”

Sounds like Prince’s original tune from 1979, but as arranged by the likes of, say, The Bird& The Bee. We can dig it.

Check out Corinne explaining each song on her EP, one by one:

“I Wanna Be Your Lover” by Prince
I met Prince in London at his gigs at the O2 and he gave me loads of encouragement. I was amazed by the gig but even more impressed by the aftershow he did in a small venue where he tore up on the guitar and played other people’s songs too. This is one of my favourite Prince songs and gives me the chance to sing the kind of sexy, rhythmical music I love but never seem to write. Getting the chance to do this song was a dream.

“Low Red Moon” by Belly
Belly were one of the prime influences on my first band Helen, where we had a real indie/DIY ethic. I was addicted to their album“Star” as a teenager and learnt loads about guitar playing just listening to them. They made me realise the most important thing in music was to express yourself and get your ideas across, without worrying about playing like a virtuoso. We had such fun playing this song, it’s like an aggressive 60′s science-fiction soundtrack.

“Is This Love?” by Bob Marley(Watch her perform the song onThe Tonight Showhere.)
My mum was the Bob Marley fan in our house which I loved, because although my father is Caribbean, he didn’t much care for reggae. Little examples like this meant I grew up learning that you could be yourself and never had to be a cliché because of your ethnicity. And Bob Marley is such an incredible songwriter, which means you can approach his songs in so many ways. I wanted to put“Is This Love?” into 6/8 and bring the tempo back to underline the poignancy of the lyric, and then Steve Brown arranged the piano part into something reminiscent of Carole King or Aretha Franklin’s gospel-soul piano style, which gave it a whole extra level. When guitarist John McCallum added in this Hendrix/Curtis Mayfield sound, it brought in a whole American doo-wop dimension too. So it’s like a whole bunch of my favourite influences in one beautiful song.

“My Love” by Paul McCartney
I first heard“My Love” at an event for Paul McCartney at the White House, where I was invited to play. A string section played the song and I was struck by the fragility of that ascending melody on“My love does it good.” I was also really touched by Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney’s relationship; their mutual respect and the fact they had known each other so long. When we recorded this song the harmonies and keyboards were definitely influenced by Stevie’s sound.

“Que Sera Sera” (live)– Doris Day
“Que Sera Sera” is a song we have been closing our gigs with all over the world. I love Sly and the Family Stone’s version, how he takes what feels like a nursery rhyme in Doris Day’s lovely hands and turns it into a philosophical outcry, declaiming“The future’s not ours to see.” Sometimes I attack this lyric angrily, sometimes I’m all peaceful and surrendered to it. What an amazing song. We recorded this super-long version in Washington D.C one night when the magic in the air meant we didn’t want to get off stage. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed playing it.

Lykke Li Wades In With“I Follow Rivers”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

lykke-li-i-follow-rivers
After releasing three albums in 2010, it’s safe to say we won’t likely get much new material out of Robyn any time soon. That’s why we’re extra-enthusiastic about the return of fellow quirky Swede Lykke Li, who has been all too quiet over the past year or so. Now, at last, the enigmatic “Little Bit” and “I’m Good, I’mGone” singer is underway on a new album,Wounded Rhymes(her first sinceYouth Novelsin early 2008). Here to tantalize us is new track“I Follow Rivers”, one that suggests we have plenty to look forward to from this offbeat Swedish artist this year. Have a listen to Lykke’s new track…

Lykke Li– I Follow Riversbydynmk

A couple months back, Lykke released her first new song and video in ages,“Get Some”, which found the provocative songstress writhing around to the tribal beat in a skimpy native-inspired getup, vamping:“I’m your prostitute, you gon’ get some.” Though “I Follow Rivers” is a lot less sexualized, there are a lot of similarities in sound and instrumentation, with yet another gyration-inducing tribal beat. It’s totally in keeping with the Lykke we love fromYouth Novels, yet along with“Get Some,” suggests she’s gently evolving as a musician and producing some more complex, catchy cuts.

Based on“Get Some” and “I Follow Rivers,” we’re eager to go with Lykke’s flow, wherever it takes us.

miguel-hoodieDavid Guetta’s new years resolution surely must be to work with every single artist under the sun.Rihanna!Flo Rida!Iyaz! (Sadly,no Britney… yet.) And today’s Guetta-produced tune,“Raise Your Hands”, features Miguel’s smooth vocals. Yes, that’sfeaturing, which means this is officially a David Guetta track as opposed to a new direction for the R&B crooner. You’veraised your glass for Pink,  now“Raise Your Hands” for Dave and Miguel by hopping below.

David Guetta feat. Miguel - Raise Your Hands

Miguel’s enthusiasm on this club banger is stellar— we knew he was into the dance party scene, as hisfavorite song of 2010 was Yeasayer’s“O.N.E.”.

As for the beat, we swear we hear a bit of sampling of Steve Angello& Laidback Luke’s crazy club track“Show Me Love”. Also, we’re wondering if this song isn’t actually called“Put Your Hands Up”, since that’s the refrain in the chorus.

But we digress. This is great! Not exactly a leap for Guetta, but worthy of our hands being thrown up in ecstasy while grooving on the dancefloor. No word yet whether this is a leftover from his 2009 discOne Love,or if this is intended for a forthcoming LP.

Thoughts? Comments.

Listen To The Demo Of Britney Spears’New Single“Hold It Against Me”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Britney-Spears-New-Album-2011“Hold It Against Me”, Britney Spears’ first new single since 2009’s“3″, was rumored to debut sometime this month (perhaps evenas early as tomorrow), but no need to wait any longer— it’s here! Sort of!

Okay, don’t be too excited— it’s just a demo, and the vocals clearly do not belong to Britney. Still, it’s a pretty hot club number, and with Brit’s cooing and a killer video to boot, this could be the first mega-hit of 2011. Pop below to hear it!

Hold It Against Me (Demo)

We could have sworn the lead vocals sound like they came from Ke$ha, but it’s actually singer-songwriter Bonnie McKee on the track. In fact, a few references to getting plastered on Jack Daniels, and this banger could feel right at home on K-Dolla’sCannibal. Hopefully Spears will give it her personal baby-voiced touch so it doesn’t sound like a copycat track. Still, we agree with z100’s TKTK when she said“the hook is just amazing.”

What do you think? Has Brit got another hit on her hands? Or is it too soon to tell?

Natasha Bedingfield Celebrates“The Little Things”With Ne-Yo | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

natasha-bedingfield-15Natasha Bedingfield could use a pocketful of sunshine right about now— her latest LP,Strip Me, is currently on theBillboard200 at (gulp) #103, about 100 notches down from the peak of her previous album. We personally knowjust how magnetic a performerthe British singer is— we’re still holding out for her to score a Top 10 hit sometime this year.

Perhaps in an alternate world, Natasha’s song“The Little Things”, featuring smooth R&B crooner Ne-Yo, could have been just that. The previously unreleased track, from herStrip Mesessions, is clearly still in the demo stages, but it’s got a nice little beat and a message about learning to appreciate all the good things in your life. Jump below to listen.

Natasha Bedingfield feat. Ne-Yo - The Little Things

“Even though the little things matter the most, it’s always the little things that go unnoticed,” sings Natasha on the Stargate-produced tune.

We love the way Bedingfield paints a picture in this story song (”Marvin in the background, candles that all burned down, his romantic gesture completely overlooked”), and with a bit more production work to add a bit more flare, we can definitely hear this one all over the radio.

What do you think? Good or bad call leaving this one offStrip Me?

Rick Ross And Drake Rap About Rihanna In New Track“Made Men”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Rick-ross-drakeRihanna asked,“What’s My Name”, and Drake and Rick Ross answered. Drizzy and the Teflon Don teamed up for a track called“Made Men”, referencing RiRi quite a few times in their collab, which will reportedly wind up on Ross’ fifth album,God Forgives, I Don’t. (Anyone else giggling at that album name? Cory Gunzprobably isn’t.) Did they say anything Rihanna should be worried about? Jump below to give it a listen.

Rick Ross feat. Drake - Made Men

“That ’65, I call it Rihanna/ It got a red top, but it’s white like Madonna,” raps Ross (who also calls his Buggati Coupe“Katy Perry”) over a foreboding beat.

Drizzy comes in with his own line about his ex-turned-pal RiRi:“One of my baddest women ever, I call her Rihanna / But that’s ’cause her name is Rihanna,” echoes Drizzy. Rhyming Rihanna with Rihanna? Genius! It’s almost as good asrhyming“bananas” with“bananas”.

Okay, there’s nothing too terrible here (besides Drake’s attempt at forming a rhyme) that should threaten Rihanna and Drake’s friendship. We’ll leave it to Chris Brown to continuenot-so-subtlydiscussing his ex in his songs.

What do you think of“Made Men”? Should RiRi jump on the hook and make this one a hit?

Chris Brown Rings In 2011 With“Look At Me Now”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Chris-Brown-2
As Chris Brownlooks ahead to a new year full of promise, you’d expect him to spend some time honing his sound, or perhaps to pursue new (or at least new-old) directions, as he did on hisplayfulIn My Zone 2mixtape. What you would not expect is for him to try sounding like a second-rate Soulja Boy, which is what he does in“Look At Me Now”, reportedly the first single from his upcoming— andpossibly jumbo-sizeF.A.M.E.album. We missed this one amid apoppingNew Year’sweekend, but it’s not too late to check out the vapid track Breezy chose to ring in 2011. Listen below.

Chris Brown f/ Busta Rhymes& Lil Wayne - Look At Me Now

Over a beat that evokesthe Dougie, Brown sings that he’s still riding high (in a yellow Lamborghini, to boot) before venturing off into a typically tasteless discussion of his manhood. If the song has a highlight, it must be the razor sharp verse from Busta Rhymes, sounding more nimble than we’ve heard him in forever. Not even Lil Wayne’s rhymes quite compare, though if he’s feeling rusty, we’d understand.

In the end, though, this song is supposed to declare the return of Chris Brown, and no matter how much he may want to be seen in a new light, we’re guessing this isn’t it.

-Firework-Promotional-Pictures-katy-perry-16341436-1024-683Katy Perry doesn’t just want toentertainyou ortitillateyou — she wants you to be a betteryou. Don’t change yourself for a man, ladies! (Unless it’s yourlast nameafter getting married — that’s acceptable.) Jump below to listen to“Part Of Me”.

Katy Perry - Part Of Me

“This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me,” sings Katy.

Katyallegedlyrecorded this track with Dr. Luke during herTeenage Dreamsessions, and it may be on a re-release of her#1 album. Though it’s perfectly innocuous, we think they made a good call keeping this one off the album– it’s uplifting, but lacking the spark of other inspirational tune,“Firework”.

What do you think of“Part Of Me”? Tell us in the comments.

Alicia Keys Is“Speechless”In New Tribute To Motherhood | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

alicia-keys-speechless-cover
Stunningsongstress Alicia Keys shares the joy of new motherhood in“Speechless”— an unexpected surprise released as part of Monster Mondays, the digital singles series created by herstylishhusband Swizz Beatz. The new jam samples Kanye West’s“Devil In A New Dress”and it finds Keys reuniting with rapper Eve for the first time since their 2002 hit“Gangsta Lovin’”. Is the result sweet or schmaltzy? Listen below.

Alicia Keys f/ Eve - Speechless

AsNeon Limelightnotes, Aliciamentionedback in October (shortly after the birth of her son, Egypt) that she felt“a song coming on”.

But she may have rushed it out— ”Speechless” comes off as a little generic, despite surely heartfelt lyrics and the rock-guitar fuzz under Alicia’s piano. And the verse from the typically tough-talking Eve doesn’t add much:“”In the morning when I rise up/ Go to the window and I smile, put my eyes up/ Stare in the clouds, like,‘Wow, look at my luck.’” she raps.

Don’t worry though— Alicia herself says thatit won’t appearas a single on her next project. As Swizz says in this promo video,“This should be a treat for the fans.”
