Nicki Minaj Sounds“So Special”In A New Snippet | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Nicki+MinajFew(besides Lil Kim)would ever deny thatfacial contortionistNicki Minaj is a pretty rare breed of talent, so when she claims she is“So Special” in her take onMovado’s trackof the same name, we’re willing to get on board with that. Taking a break from spitting rhymes on tracks by everyone fromDavid GuettatoBritney Spears, theMaximhottiegets more emotive than usual singing here:“So you can keep my things / There’s nothing you can bring / And you can have my ring / You can add it to your bling.” Hear it below.

Given herrecent commentson Eminem’s use of homophobic language on their track“Roman’s Revenge,” at least one lyric here may come as a surprise to some fans:“You’re softer than a homosexual.”

Do you think the latest from Nicki is anything special?

Mercedes’Singing Vs. Duckie’s Dancing: Who Rocked“Try A Little Tenderness”? | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Mercedes Amber Riley Jon Cryer Pretty In Pink Duckie Try A Little TendernessNext week’s“Funeral” episode ofGleeboasts Amber Riley’s diva-worthy rendition of Otis Redding’s version of“Try A Little Tenderness.” We could actually sit here all afternoon listening to it on repeat— and in fact, we will! But as much as we love Mercedes, we couldn’t help thinking of Jon Cryer’s classicPretty In Pinkcharacter Duckie, who both stunned and freaked out Molly Ringwald and Annie Potts while busting crazy white-boy moves to Otis’ classic in the film. Amber clearly has the pipes, but Duckie had the dance. So who totally rocked the song?

First, we’ll admit that without seeing Mercedes’ scene in the upcomingGleeepisode, we might be jumping the gun. Who knows— maybe she brings it with her own sassy choreography?

Likewise, Jon Cryer doesn’t actually sing in 1986 Brat Pack flickPretty In Pink. Instead, he just kind of flops his body against the wall at Trax record shop, jerks his head from side-to-side and over-emotes with that big ol’ mouth of his.

Drag queens, take note— this is classic in lip sync character study!

Mercedes’ voice always gives us the chills. But Duckie’s energetic scene never stops bringing the thrills.

Which“performance” of“Try A Little Tenderness” do you think is best? Let us know below!

Tinie Tempah Pairs Up With Wiz Khalifa For New Single“Till I’m Gone”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Tinie Tempah Wiz KhalifaTinie Tempah gets a lyrical boost on next US single“Till I’m Gone” from“Roll Up”MC Wiz Khalifa. The Stargate-produced track is one of three new ones recorded for the American version of upcoming Live On Letterman performer (did youenter to win tickets?) Tinie’s debut LPDisc-Overy(out May 17). Listen below!

“Come out and play, let’s pour another bottle / Let’s do it all today and worry’bout it all tomorrow,” Tinie raps on“Till I’m Gone”— a sentiment that’s somewhat reminiscent of the one in Britney Spears’ current hit“Till The World Ends.”

Meanwhile, Wiz takes up chorus duties on the track.“Through the fight, through the pain, booked a flight, took a plane / Told her not to cry, I’ll be back one day,” he promises.

The track itself bears more than a little resemblance to Khalifa’s own winter hit“Black And Yellow”(also produced by Stargate). But these two MCs’ clever word play is charming enough to have us overlooking that fact.

What do you think— do Tinie and Wiz have another hit on their hands?

ST-FeelsSoGoodCover

As one ofAmerican Idol’s fresh facesbehind the judge’s tablethis season, Steven Tyler is familiar to viewers in a way he hasn’t been since Aerosmith’s(dysfunctional)heyday. Now he’s following in fellow judge Jennifer Lopez’ssandyfootsteps, hoping to catch some of the exposure that helped her comeback tune“On The Floor”become such a monster success. Unfortunately, neither Pitbull nor Lil Wayne make buzz-increasing appearances on“(It) Feels So Good,” but does the rock legend really need them? Head below to hear.

Call us crazy, but isn’t the purpose ofIdolto catapult new young talent into the spotlight, rather than the celebrity judges whose careers have been lackluster lately? Oh well.“(It) Feels So Good” is a surprisingly decent rock jam (in spite of the title’s unnecessary parentheses), andCarrie Underwood’s co-croonerproves he can still screech like no one else in the business.

It must feel so good to be back in the game, right?

Rye Rye Takes On Robyn In New Track“Never Will Be Mine”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

ryerye_img01_hires

We are reasonably certain that there is no way to improve on an existing piece of Robyn’s pop perfection. That’s why we’re gladRye Rye kept some of the Swedish pixie’s vocals intact on her reinterpretation of Robyn’s“Be Mine”— and we’re totally game for an homage like that. Thesunny20-year-old spits lovelorn rhymes over the“Call Your Girlfriend”artist’s angsty 2005 single, keeping the heartbroken vibe and transforming it into an R&B-flavored jam, with thesoon-to-be California Dreamerherself still rocking the chorus. Check it out below.

Rye Rye feat. Robyn - Never Will Be Mine

We’re definitely into the Baltimore rapper’s revamp of an older Robyn tune, since with all the brilliant music fromBody Talk, we’d practically forgotten this oldie-but-goodie. Welcome back,“Be Mine”!

“Never Will Be Mine” is the second single from Rye Rye’s as-yet-unreleased debut album,Go! Pop! Bang.
