New Kids& Backstreet Boys Beg“Don’t Turn Out The Lights”On Joint Single | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

NKOTBSB New Kids On The Block Backstreet BoysWe previously mentioned that New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys have amashed-up greatest hits type thing on the way, to coincide with theirco-headlining summer tour. And on this testosterone-packed collection of past-glory jams will be the brand new joint NKOTBSB single“Don’t Turn Out The Lights.” Give it a listen below!

We’re loving the fact thatNew York’sVultureblog is just as perplexed as we are over exactly who of the nine man band gents represented here is singing what. (”Who gets to sing lead on the chorus? What is the unspoken hierarchy?” the site ponders.) Because, honestly, who can tell?

Well, actually, we’re pretty sure we can hear Backstreet blond Nick Carter and New Kids’ resident lead vocalist Jordan Knight rather prominently throughout NKOTBSB’s upbeat“Poker Face”-esque dance-pop offering. And, trust—by comparing to“Poker Face,” we’re not aiming to demean“Don’t Turn Out The Lights” in any way. After all, we’ve already played the damn thing four times in a row!

File this one under Guilty Pleasure Of The Week. {*Whispers*: And bring on the tour!}

NKOTBSB - Don't Turn Out The Lights

What do you think of supergroup NKOTBSB’s“Don’t Turn Out The Lights”?

Jennifer Lopez And Lil Wayne Admit“I’m Into You”In New Song | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Jennifer Lopez J.Lo I'm Into You Lil WayneAmerican Idol’s resident diva Jennifer Lopez is certainly no stranger to pairing up with rappers. In the past she’s collaborated with such hip hop names as Ja Rule, Fat Joe and LL Cool J, while Pitbull features on her current hit“On The Floor.”(And, lest we forget, once upon a time J.Lo had a rather high-profile relationship with Dirty Money chief Diddy.) Now, for new jam“I’m Into You,” Jenny From The Block has enlistedInterviewsubject Lil Wayne for a few rhymes.

“I’m Into You” is part of a campaign onLopez’s Facebook, wherein if you“like” the song, it will be unlocked early on iTunes before the release ofLove?Oh, J.Lo—why must you make them beg?

“I’m Into you like you never knew, I’m fallin’ for you, baby, I need a parachute,” Weezy raps in the intro the jam. Meanwhile, atop a rat-a-tat beat and bed of synths, Lopez sings,“When I look into your eyes, it’s over / you got me hooked with your love controller / I’m trippin’ and I could not get over / I feel lucky like a four leaf clover.”

Jennifer Lopez feat. Lil Wayne - I'm Into You

While the beat is sparse and the lyrics border on simplistic, the melodies (particularly the irresistible chorus) and Jennifer’s warm vocals give this uplifting piece of pop an extra boost.

So far we’re pretty in like withLove? What do you think of Weezy and J.Lo’s collaboration?

Wiz Khalifa And Snoop Dogg Share Their Stash On“This Weed Iz Mine”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

snoop-dogg-wiz-khalifaIf Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney were fighting over an ounce of marijuana instead of the love of a woman in their duet“The Girl Is Mine”, it may have come out a little something like Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s new collab,“This Weed Iz Mine”. The weed may be theirs, but they’re sharing. What givers! Listen to the groovy slice of 90s-era pot-loving hip-pop below.

Snoop Dogg feat. Wiz Khalifa - This Weed Iz Mine

Britney Spears Gets“Scary”On Another‘Femme Fatale’Bonus Track | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Britney SpearsBeen thinking you’ve already heardall the bonus tracksassociated with Britney Spears upcoming albumFemme Fatale? There’s actually one more! Head below to listen to a clip of“Scary,” a song set to be included on the Japanese edition of thedeluxe version of the album.

Britney feels that she needs“some hypnotherapy” after being“taken to a dark place” by her conquest’s body on the Fraser T. Smith-produced dance-pop jam“Scary.”Naughty!(Smith also produced and co-wrote Spears’Femme Fataletrack“Trouble For Me,” as well as Adele’s standout21tune“Set Fire To The Rain.”)

Now that we’ve heard bits and pieces of pretty muchevery song associated with Brit-Brit’s seventh studio album, it’s pretty clear that we just might be in for a whole lot of killer and very little filler.

What do you think?

Lady Gaga Switches Things Up With Country Road Version Of“Born This Way”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Lady Gaga Born This WayWhat’s that—you were wondering what a country/blues version of Lady Gaga’s chart-topping hit“Born This Way”would sound like? One packed with big booming drums, wailing guitar riffs and a sassy harmonica? Well, miracles do sometimes happen (and often they work themselves out on Fridays). Head below to listen to the“Country Road Version” ofGoogle-savvyGaga’s“Born This Way.”

The newly southern-fried rendition of the #1 single in the country comes to you via producers Gaga and Fernando Garibay. And there are also some new lyrics worked into the track:

If I wanna make it country, baby, that’s okay,
’cause I was born, I was born, I was born this way
From London, Paris, Japan, back to USA, yeah
I was born on the road, I was born to be brave

Are you feeling Gaga going a little bit (actually, make that alot) country?

Personally, we’re still holding out for the polka rendition.

Snoop Dogg And John Legend Get Added To Kanye West’s“Eyez Closed”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Kanye West Snoop DoggWe first heard Kanye West’s guitar-riffing “Eyez Closed”, a cut rumored to be from hisMy Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasysessions, back in January. We were unimpressed then, though most of that was due to it being an unpolished demo. The track refuses to be buried though, and resurfaces as a track on Snoop Dogg’sDoggumentary, out next week. Did the jam get an upgrade by Snoop? Check it out below.

Snoop Dogg, Kanye West& John Legend - Eyez Closed

Sky Ferreira Is A Cry Baby On New Track“99 Tears”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

sky-ferreira-obsession-new-song-500x309Sky Ferreira’s EPAs If!has found its inevitable way to the Internets this weekend— not too bad, considering its official release date is tomorrow. That’s a heck of a lot better than the luck Britney had withFemme Fataleleaking more than two weeks before its drop date. In any case, Sky’s five-song debut is packed with 80s-style influences (seriously— Sky“pities the fools” Mr. T-style in her lead single“Sex Rules”) and loads of energy, particularly on the infectious“99 Tears”. Listen to it below.

Sky Ferreira - 99 Tears

“Cry baby, cry baby, cry / You can drown in nine! Ty! Nine! Tears!” shouts out Sky on the chorus to this delicious spoonful of Euro-dance-pop.

Let’s hope Sky hurries upwriting all that new musicfor her full-length LP, because we’re already craving more. How about you?

Britney Spears Is“Selfish”On‘Femme Fatale’Deluxe Edition Track | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Britney SpearsWe’ve rounded upthe early reviewsof Britney Spears’ soon-to-be-officially-releasedFemme Fataleand also did up aBy The Numbers listdetailing some interesting facts about references made on the album, but there is still the deluxe edition and its four bonus tracks to look forward to. Today a snippet of one such song,“Selfish,” has made its way online. Hear it below.

“Okay you think you got me where you want me, I’ma show you tonight / that I’m a girl and you’re a boy and tonight you’re gonna be my, be my man,” Britney coos on Stargate/Sandy Vee co-production“Selfish.”

Surely you didn’t think Her Spearship was going to stray too far from her eternal themes of wild feet-touching-the-chandelier sex and love (emphasis on the former)?

Granted, this is only 40-or-so seconds of the song, but we’re totally scratching our heads in wonderment at how this seemingly Grade A jam was relegated to being a bonus track?

Stargate, of course, has racked up a tasty plateful of hits over the past year, including Rihanna’s“(Only Girl) In The World” and“What’s My Name,” Katy Perry’s“Firework” and Wiz Khalifa’s“Black And Yellow.”

What do you think of“Selfish”—should it have been on theFemme Fatalealbum proper?

Lady Gaga And RedOne Sneak Into Jennifer Lopez’s Brain To Craft“Invading My Mind”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

60766473Those who ever found themselves mindlessly humming“Poker Face”for days on end know what it’s like to have Lady Gaga and RedOne invade their minds. Now we can add Jennifer Lopez to the mix: the hitmakers behind“Just Dance”and“Bad Romance”(amongst others) are hoping to share their magic touch with theweepy divaon two tracks for her upcoming albumLove?.“For those who don’t know, @ladygagaProduced/Wrote with me TWO Records for @JLo,“Invading my Mind” and an Other one coming SOOON!!! OMG!!!”tweetedRedOne— and he’s not the only one jazzed about this collaboration. Head below to hear Jennifer Lopez’s“Invading My Mind,” written and produced by RedOne and Lady Gaga.

“Freezing cold, steaming hot, sweaty drip-drip-drop / It’s unstoppable, I can’t shake it up,” Lopez sings on the new track. In a parallel universe, we could definitely hear Gaga herself singing “Invading My Mind,” though it has more in common with early tracks fromFamethan anything thep-p-p-pointy-facedprovocateur has done lately. (The verses also remind us an awful lot of Lopez’s current RedOne-produced hit“On The Floor.”)

WhileRedOne has saidthat Lady Gaga’s upcoming album is all about freedom, his work with Lopez is clearly about proving theleggyAmerican Idoljudgestill has what it takes to get people dancing (as long as they aren’t wearing“Louboutins”). To that end,“Invading My Mind” may very well be successful, even if Mama Monster’s involvement and theInception-like title filled our heads with much trippier expectations. Still, Lopez could clearly do a lot worse than take a page from Lady Gaga— though hopefully she will pass on theleopard print thong.

Listen To Two New Jennifer Hudson Tracks:“I Remember Me”And“Why Is It So Hard”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Jennifer-Hudson-I-Remember-Me-500x500Jennifer Hudson’s sophomore LPI Remember Meisn’t set to drop for another week, but fromwhat we’ve heard so far, it’s shaping up to be the R&B album of the year. She singer has lined up an impressive list of producers this time around, fromR. Kellyand Polow Da Don toSwizz Beatz and evenMrs.Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys. But that’s not all— listen to the Ne-Yo co-produced tune“Why Is It So Hard” below, along with the album’s title track, produced by hitmaker Ryan Tedder.

Jennifer Hudson - I Remember Me

“What if this life is all that we are given? We just can’t stop living scared of what we’ll see / Cause in this world anything can hurt you, push you then forget you, stole my history / But I remember me,” J-Hud sings on this uplifting, uptempo ballad. Looks like Tedder and Hudson work well together— hopefully their collaboration doesn’t go the way ofhis working relationship with otherIdolalum Kelly Clarkson. (Then again, they apparently managed tokiss and make up, so anything’s possible.)

We’re loving this one even more—“Why Is It So Hard” was produced by Ne-Yo and Chuck Harmony, about struggling through a relationship that is totally worth the trouble.

Jennifer Hudson - Why Is It So Hard

“Why is it so hard to love you? So hard to stay? Why is it so hard to love you? But this is the one time I don’t care about the easy way.” This piano-tinkling number is a bit R&B, a bit doo-wop, and entirely contagious. Let’s hope this one gets the single treatment.

What do you think of J-Hud’s new tunes?

Robyn Lends Her Voice To New Teddybears Single“Cardiac Arrest”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

RobynWhen Robyn isn’t serving up her ownnoteworthy material, she’s lending her recognizable pipesto tracksby otherquirky, pop-minded artists. And this time around it’s Stockholm act Teddybears who get the Robyn vocal touch, on their new single“Cardiac Arrest.” Listen below.

Teddybears, of course, are headed up by brothers Joakim and KlasÅhlund, the latter of whom has produced such Robyn jams as“Hang With Me,”“Fembot,”“Indestructible”and“Handle Me.” (Klas also co-wrote Britney Spears’“Piece Of Me,” which contains backing vocals by Robyn.)

“Reagan rolled up her eyes and hissed / Mommy called on the exorcist / so come on and shake your bone maker,” Robyn sings on squiggly electro-pop tune“Cardiac Arrest.”

Here’s the lyrics video for the single:

Why is it that Robyn consistently winds up either making or appearing on the best’80s pop that never actually came out in the’80s?

“Cardiac Arrest” was made available today on iTunes.

Hear Clips Of Three Britney Spears‘Femme Fatale’Deluxe Version Tracks | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Britney SpearsYesterday a snippet of“Selfish,”one of four bonus tracks off the deluxe version of  Britney Spears’Femme Fatale, made its way online. And today the other three have surfaced. Head below to hear short clips of the Rodney Jerkins productions“He About To Lose Me” and“Don’t Keep Me Waiting,” as well as the Max Martin co-produced“Up‘N Down.”

First up, here’s the‘90-sounding dance jam“Up‘N Down,” which was co-produced by Max Martin, Savan Kotecha and Oligee. The short clip doesn’t really give too much insight other than it sounds like some European club cut straight out of 1995.

Our favorite of the clips is the Rodney“Darkchild” Jerkins number“He About To Lose Me,” mostly because of the soaring chorus we get a short bit of. It’s too early to tell what the full song will sound like, but as with“Selfish,” we’re wondering if this might not have been well-suited for the proper version of the album.

Another (not quite as catchy) Darkchild production,“Don’t Keep Me Waiting,” finds Britney exploring a more rock-y vibe.

Doyouhave a favorite from the snippets of Britney’sFemme Fatalebonus tracks above?

Aqua Return To Ask“How R U Doin?”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

AquaWhile Danish act Aqua took an extra long time to release their greatest hits collection (it came out in 2009—nearly a full decade since the release of their previous albumAquarius), they’re underway with prepping what will be only their third LP since their colorful pop confection“Barbie Girl” strutted into the collective popular consciousness back in 1997. Head below to hear the quartet’s new single“How R U Doin?”

The intro to Aqua’s newest jam gives the impression of that Lene, Rene and the gang have found more than a little inspiration in Far East Movement’s“Like A G6″and Taio Cruz’s“Dynamite.”But thankfully the tune contains enough of the band’s own trademark Euro-pop charm to keep things from veering toward total Copycatville.

“It’s time to party,’cause the feeling is right / We wanna know now, are you ready to go-oh-oh-oh-oh!” helium-voiced Lene sings just before the bouncy chorus kicks in.

Aqua - How R U Doin?

“How R U Doin?” was released across Europe this week, and naturally the single is already within the Top 10 on iTunes in Aqua’s home country of Denmark.

But while the single is absent from the U.S. store, the band didtweet the followingtoday:“We’re working hard on getting the last iTunes Stores onboard for‘How R U Doin?’… Sorry for the inconvience ;-)”

Here’s the band in the studio, recording the first single from their third album.

Bask In The Heavenly Glow Of Jennifer Hudson’s New Track“Angel”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Jennifer HudsonSubtle-but-driving Jennifer HudsonI Remember Metrack“Angel” surfaced today, and the potent mid-tempo number combines an infectious melody—courtesy of co-producers/writers (andreal-life sweethearts) Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz—with Hudson’s smooth powerhouse vocals. Hear it below.

“Heaven’s in your arms, got me until the end (got me until the end)/ So let me be your angel, through the golden door I will come runnin’ when you need some more,” sings“Where You At”diva J-Hud.

Part of the charm of“Angel” comes from the drum line-esque beat and Keys’ soft piano chords, which almost give the uplifting jam a retro disco-pop quality.

“Angel” easily sounds like Keys’ first great composition since“Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart.” What do you think?

Adam Lambert’s“Aftermath”Gets A Billboard Remix | Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Adam LambertWhile we’re still chomping at the bit for the arrival of that Adam Lambertlive CD/DVD combo, the Glam One is throwing his fans a bone in the form of a remix by Billboard (aka Mathieu Jomphe) ofFor Your Entertainmenttrack“Aftermath.” Put on your dancing boots and give it a listen below.

Glamazons will know“Aftermath” in it’s slower, more rock-oriented form. It’s a great jam that really allows for some prime wailing by Adam.

And recently, Billboard co-produced Britney Spears’“Hold It Against Me”and“Till The World Ends”with Max Martin and Dr. Luke, two tunesmiths Lambert has worked with, as well.

Here’s Adam’s interview with Ryan Seacrest from today, where he discusses “Aftermath” and the fact that he’ll be performing an acoustic version onAmerican Idoltomorrow night (the remix kicks in at 4:03):

Personally, we’re digging the dreamy feel of the Billboard remix of“Aftermath,” particularly the parts where Adam’s upper range is more prevalent. That said, we love the album version, too, and we really can’t place one above the other. (What doyouthink?)

Neon Limelightpoints out that the remix will be available from Lambert’s official site tomorrow. As Adam said in his interview with Ryan Seacrest, part of the proceeds will go toward benefiting The Trevor Project.

Chris Brown And Justin Bieber Get“Next 2 You”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

justin-bieber-chris-brown-next-2-you
As tipped onthe F.A.M.E.tracklist, Chris Brown reallydidrecord a track with Justin Bieber, and it’s aimed pretty squarely at— surprise! — the ladies. Over a loose, marching beat, Breezy and the Bieb take turns cooing declarations of devotion. Which of them sounds more convincing? Listen below.

Chris Brown f/ Justin Bieber - Next 2 You

“You are my dream / There’s not a thing I won’t do/ I’d give my life up for you /’cause you are my dream,” Bieber sings as the beat builds toward the chorus. You have to wonder if he practiced it onhis date the other night.

As for Chris, the song represents one of his strongest forays yet into dance-pop. But between this and“Rock Paper Scissors”, doesF.A.M.E.offer enough to take him back to the top of the charts?

Sky Ferreira Complains About Complainers In New Track“Haters Anonymous”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

Sky-Ferreira-As-If-cover-EPSky Ferreira can take what you dish out— just as long as you don’t hide while hatin’ on her. On“Haters Anonymous”, off herAs If!EP (due March 22), the curly-haired blond pop tart rises up against all you Internet meanies who talk trash behind the veil of anonymity. Listen below— and remember, there’s a real person behind every avatar.

Sky Ferreira - Haters Anonymous

The electro-infused track opens with Sky speaking over dubstep beats, criticizing peeps who refuse to name themselves when hatin’ on others, before it kicks into the chorus aided with Casio keyboard beat:“Who started all the fuss / You can’t be serious / Walking around all of us / Haters anonymous.”

It’s definitely unique compared to the pretty standard tunes coming from Sky’s pop peers. What do you think?

While you’re mulling this track over, Sky recently stripped down to her bra and a pair of Calvin Klein jeans as part of a new ad campaign from CK One. Catch her and Cassie keeping it classy (and kind of snuff film-y) below:

Chris Brown And Wiz Khalifa Have A Blast On‘F.A.M.E.’Bonus Track“Bomb”| Music News, Reviews, and Gossip on Idolator.com

cb-wizOn his quest forF.A.M.E.(that’s “Forgiving All My Enemies” — or, at least, itwas), it seems Chris Brown has one more name to cross off the list of those he plans to pardon: whoever leaked thatX-rated photo yesterday(have we learnednothingfromVanessa Hudgens, people?). Luckily, a much less scandalous (if still not exactly family-friendly) leak of Brown’s “Bomb,” featuring the explosive Wiz Khalifa, is well-timed to put the focus back where, for better or worse, it belongs: on his music. Check out the F.A.M.E. bonus track below.

Chris Brown feat. Wiz Khalifa - Bomb

“Apple looking so ripe, she make me want a piece / Give it to her all night, so she don’t want to leave,” theno-longer-restrainedrapper sings here— and surprise! It’s not about an actual piece of fruit. The track is a none-too-serious ditty filled with the typical naughty rhymes and bragging of sexual prowess, plus an unnecessary shout-out to September 11 and plenty ofRolling Papersreferences to cross-promote Khalifa’s upcoming album, too. It’s a perfectly listenable but unremarkable tune that unfortunately just doesn’t blow us away like a Chris Brown-Wiz Khalifa pairing ought to.

That this is a bonus track feels just about right— while the duo certainly hasn’t blown it with“Bomb,” we can’t exactly call it a bang-up job, either. (We’ll leave any further“Bomb” puns for your comments.)

The song is pretty good, and Gaga didn’t fall and become“fashion roadkill”, so it’s a double success! Listen to a snippet of“Government Hooker” below.

The song segues into“Born This Way”around 3:20, and Gaga makes her fierce appearance in the very beginning (looking oh-so French smoking a cigarette) and again at 6:20.

Lady Gaga—“Government Hooker” (Snippet)

“I’m gonna drink my tears tonight / Gonna drink my tears and cry / Cause I know you love me baby,” sings Gaga.“Put your hands on me, John F. Kennedy.”

We’re not sure if this is the studio track or a remix. But it’s definitely more out-there and eccentric than“Born This Way”, and it sounds both totally 80s new wave and completely original at once.

Somehow we don’t think this one will be an official single— but hey, that didn’t stop Gaga’s Fame Monster track“Dance In The Dark” from being nominated for a Grammy.

Thoughts on Gaga’s new tune, little monsters? While you’re no doubt listening to“Government Hooker” a dozen more times, check out one more pic from the fashion show. Those giantess pigtails are adorable!

Then again, she’s probably striking while the iron’s hot, since she’sthisclosetolanding a record deal. (Please, pleaserecord a feisty duet with Willow Smith is all we ask.) Listen to three tunes sung by Gwyneth onGleebelow.

Glee Cast feat. Gwyneth Paltrow - Kiss

Glee Cast feat. Gwyneth Paltrow - Landslide

Glee Cast feat. Gwyneth Paltrow- Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)

Gwyneth sounds perfectly lovely on all three songs, though we’re not positive any of these will become an insta-hit like Gwynnie’s“Forget You”. Still, no second hand embarrassment to be found. Maybe she should host the Oscars next year? You know she’d totally be game!

Are you enjoying Paltrow’s second career wave as a professional warbler? Tell us below.
